Melissa Schniers
Hi, I am Dr. Melissa L. Schniers and would like to share my education and experience. I graduated from Dublin High School in 1992 and following high school, I joined the US Navy from 1994-1997. My college journey started at Chaminade University while I was enlisted in the Navy, and after an honorable discharge attended Tarleton State University with my Bachelor of Science in psychology and my Masters of Science in counseling psychology. I did two practicums working at Erath Excels Academy Charter School and Pecan Valley Centers for Behavioral & Developmental Healthcare. At the practicum site, I continued as an adult case manager, youth case manager, cognitive based therapist, and area manager for 8 years. My journey continued as a therapist and supervisor with my business, Unique Butterfly Counseling Services 10 years working with veterans, individuals, marriage and families. I attended college again in 2016 to purse my Doctorate of Marriage and Family Therapy at Texas Wesleyan University. There was an opportunity to move to Waco in 2021 where I worked at TJJD for 1 year and continue to work a Canyon Creek Behavioral Health. I offer online and in-person therapy.
Mission statement
Get your life back
My mission statement is “Get Your Life Back.” This statement came after a difficult time in 2012. Not only do I want my patients to get their life back, but I also wanted to get my own life back. There are difficult situations and events in life that are very challenging. I want to help equip people with the power and the courage to take back what is theirs.
